Consultant Hematologist, Hemato-Oncologist, and Bone Marrow Transplant Physician

Dr Sudarshan S. Pandit, M.B.B.S., M.D., is a distinguished Consultant Hematologist, Hemato-Oncologist, and Bone Marrow Transplant Physician. Dr Pandit completed his MBBS from Dr. VPMC, Nashik (2005-2010). Following this, he pursued his post-graduation in Pathology at Dr. Shankarrao Chavan Government Medical College, Nanded (2013-2016). He then went on to complete a Fellowship in Clinical Hematology from Topiwala National Medical College and B.Y.L. Nair Charitable Hospital in Mumbai (2017-2019), under the mentorship of Dr Kulkarni and other stalwarts of hematology.

 

During his fellowship, Dr Pandit gained extensive training in various aspects of hematology and hemato-oncology, handling a wide spectrum of benign and malignant hematological disorders. He worked as a Senior Registrar at the same institute for a year, collaborating with leading Bone Marrow Transplant physicians in Mumbai. Post fellowship, he joined MCGM Comprehensive Thalassemia Care, Pediatric Hematology, Hemato-Oncology, and Bone Marrow Transplant Center in Mumbai, a state-of-the-art care center. There, he gained hands-on experience in pediatric bone marrow transplants, apheresis, and cryopreservation of stem cells, including their thawing and infusion.

 

Dr Pandit has completed training in flow cytometry at the Advanced Centre for Treatment, Research, and Education in Cancer (ACTREC) at Tata Memorial Hospital in Mumbai. He has performed over 100 bone marrow transplants, demonstrating his expertise in autologous, allogenic, and matched unrelated donor (MUD) transplants.

 

His clinical experience is vast, treating patients with conditions such as Aplastic Anemia, various forms of Lymphomas (DLBCL, HCL, Follicular, Mantle, SMZL, and T-cell), Acute Leukemia (AML, ALL, CML, CLL, APML), Plasma Cell Disorders (Multiple Myeloma, WM), Myeloproliferative Neoplasms (Polycythemia, Myelofibrosis, ET), Immune Thrombocytopenia, Sickle Cell Disease, Bleeding Disorders (Hemophilia, Von Willebrand Disease, Rare Bleeding Disorders), Thalassemia, recurrent Iron Deficiency Anemia, Megaloblastic Anemia, and Thrombotic Disorders.

 

Dr Pandit is highly skilled in stem cell collection, apheresis, cryopreservation, and the thawing and infusion of stem cells. His specialization in flow cytometry plays a crucial role in the diagnosis of many hematological disorders. He is also proficient in Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation, a curative option for many hematological diseases.

 

In addition to his clinical practice, Dr Pandit is a member of the Indian Society of Hematology and Blood Transfusion (ISHBT) and the Mumbai Hematology Group (MHG). His dedication to advancing hematology is reflected in his research contributions, with publications in reputable journals such as the Journal of Precision Oncology and the Journal of Applied Hematology.
