Dr. Bhaskar P Lakhule

Consultant in Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging

Dr Bhaskar P Lakhule holds an MBBS from Government Medical College, Aurangabad, and an MD in Nuclear Medicine from the Radiation Medicine Centre (RMC) at Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), Mumbai. He specializes in nuclear medicine and molecular imaging, bringing a wealth of knowledge and expertise to his role.

Dr Bhaskar is a Consultant in Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging. His career objective is to leverage his extensive knowledge in Nuclear Medicine to assist clinicians in patient care and contribute to field research.

Dr Bhaskar has a wealth of experience handling patients and reporting scans involving gamma camera scintigraphies and PET/CT. He has developed a particular expertise in managing benign and malignant thyroid disorders, carcinoma prostate, and neuroendocrine tumors. His proficiency extends to reporting on various gamma camera procedures, including cardiac imaging using 99mTc-MIBI SPECT, genitourinary system imaging with 99mTc-DTPA, 99mTc-EC, and 99mTc-DMSA, salivary scintigraphy with 99mTc-pertechnate, thyroid and parathyroid scintigraphy with 99mTc-pertechnate and 99mTc-MIBI, pulmonary perfusion imaging with 99mTc-MAA, and hepatobiliary system imaging with 99mTc-Mebrofenin.

In addition to gamma camera procedures, Dr Bhaskar is adept at interpreting PET/CT scans for a variety of benign and malignant disorders using radioisotopes such as 68Ga-DOTATATE, 18F-FDG, and 68Ga-PSMA. He is also experienced in performing therapeutic nuclear medicine procedures including 131I for thyroid disorders, 131I mIBG, and targeted radionuclide therapies using 177Lu, 90Y, and 225Ac for conditions such as neuroendocrine tumors and prostate cancer.

Dr Bhaskar’s research endeavors include a thesis project evaluating angiogenesis expression using 68Ga-NODAGA-RGD PET/CT imaging in patients with thyrotoxicosis to predict treatment response. He has actively participated in several conferences, including the Society of Nuclear Medicine India Conference (SNMICON) in 2021, 2022, and 2023, showcasing his commitment to continuous learning and professional development.

Fluent in Marathi, Hindi, and English, Dr Bhaskar effectively communicates with a diverse patient population, ensuring comprehensive care and understanding.
